Our name, Liefde, means 'loving' in Dutch, and our aim is to make beautiful products that have practical uses for parents. More products will be available during 2009, but our launch product is Mamaflage®...
Quite simply, Mamaflage® is a poncho that enables breastfeeding mums to feed their babies discreetly and comfortably in public.
Katy Buckley designed Mamaflage and describes how she came up with the idea...
"I'm not a trained product designer, but I've always been the type of person who thinks about solutions to problems.
The idea for Mamaflage came about when I was out in a café and trying to arrange myself to breastfeed my daughter. I don't know if it's ever happened to you, but I suddenly felt as if lots of pairs of eyes were staring at me. I felt really self-conscious, and left to find somewhere else to feed my child, missing my lunch as well!
I tried to search for a product that would help me breastfeed discreetly. I bought tops with concealed front openings but found they did little to 'cover me up'; added to that, they were expensive and limited the types of clothes I could wear whilst breastfeeding. That's when I came up with the idea for Mamaflage."
